Susan Tschudi, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist - Westlake Village, CA

Welcome and thanks for visiting!

Finding a therapist that you really connect with is an important and vital part of the change process. My approach to therapy is characterized by a caring attitude for my clients and a true collaboration with them in order achieve their goals.

Here is some information so that you can get to know me better

My Therapy Approach: You may not realize it, but therapists have different approaches to counseling - it's called 'theoretical orientation'. My clinical approach has a very positive theoretical orientation that believes people are competent and resourceful. The focus, therefore, is not on a continuous discussion of problems but on finding solutions for them. Designed as short-term, therapy sessions involve exploring how my clients (individuals, couples, or families) would like things to be different, how to make those differences happen and to recognize what signs indicate changes are happening.

My Experience: I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Texas, Austin and a master's degree in psychology from Pepperdine University.

In addition to my private practice in Westlake Village, CA, I am an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Education and Psychology at Pepperdine University, Malibu where I instruct master's level graduate students about the theories and techniques of counseling.

I have recently written a book for couples titled, "Loving Someone with Attention Deficit Disorder" (New Harbinger Publications). It addresses the problems a couple can encounter when one has ADD and the other doesn't. I have spoken on this subject locally, nationally and internationally. To learn more, visit my book's website: www.lovingsomeonewithadd.com

My life experience along with my clinical training and experience, provide me with an ability to assist my clients in regaining the foundation of their lives and creating healthier dynamics for more contentment and peace in life and in relationships.

The following pages will answer some of the more common questions I receive about my practice, some of my specializations and about counseling in general.
